Ameshirel: A World Undone
The first thing I felt was pressure, all over my body, I couldn’t see at all and it felt like I was suffocating. Panic rose quickly in the claustrophobic environment and screams rattled in my brain as I was unable to make a sound.
As my head began to feel light, the pressure was released suddenly, explosively, and I was dropped to the ground. Racking coughs assaulted me as I attempted to breathe again and I slowly curled up into a ball and passed out, the pain of being awake becoming to much.
I awoke again to a ravenous hunger, eating away at me like a swarm of locusts. Trying to get up, I listened to my surroundings, and heard flowing water close by. I slowly crawled my way there, blearily trying to realise where I was.
After drinking long and eating what I could find nearby and keep down, what happened slowly began to click back into place. The last thing I remember was the helpers, the beautiful monsters, showing me to the circle, the ritual had already been prepared, and my dear brother was waiting for me reassuring me that he would help me trough all of this.
The ritual began quickly, the words unknown to me dance and sung through the air, swirling around me… But then the screaming began. I don’t know who was screaming. Myself, the helpers, Him, but the sweet song turned dark. Blood flowed freely out of my body, violently whipping around me and I felt my feet lift off the ground. Very quickly did I realise this was not meant to happen, as did my brother. As I felt myself separating as if my very being was being torn in two, the last thing I saw was my brothers face as he ripped in two.
‘Well I guess I have to find some more food now’ I sniffed aloud, the quiet forest absorbing the noise. What I did not expect was a reply, but there it was,
‘Do not worry my dear girl, I will once again provide all that I can for you’ my very soul seemed to warm as the voice echoed through my mind. That wonderfully familiar, clawing voice, it feels like an eternity since I last heard it. Before my eyes an apple tree quickly sprouted and grew, healthy an ripe fruit sprouting from its branches. Sadly a tree already planted nearby wilted and fell away dead, but that was always the trade with Him.
As I began gorging myself on the sweet fruit, He spoke again.
‘So my sweet Eliana, you are home once more.’
‘Home? I don’t believe this is my home.’ I replied through mouthfuls.
‘It was your first home, the birthplace of your tribe, and now I have an important task for you.’
The last task I had quickly flashed through my mind again and bile rose in my throat.
‘No no, be calm, this is but an easy task you’ve seen me do many a time, this time I just need your help… It’s simple really, we just have to resurrect Yuulamear.’
‘My brother’s dead?’ I felt I should be more panicked learning this to be true, but the calm invoked by his voice was keeping me steady.
‘Well not truly, which is why I need your help bringing him back to you. You will just need to find out what happened, seek out the heretics of those wrongly named, find Sabhail, and ask them for your brothers whereabouts. I believe they know him as Johannesz…’
